Wienerchaise Ed15

When asked to come up with an inspiring British object, I immediately thought of a brick, strange. But the brick is such an iconic British building material and I thought worth pursuing for inspiration. Invented by the Romans and industrialised by the British it has seen everywhere, so much so that it has now become invisible. Individually a brick seems characterless but with others has the possibility to be poetic. The brick is a natural material but when processed resembles an innate functional unit. They are also a regional product and exposing different parts of Britian through its colour and texture. I have produced an object to express these thoughts by carving and cutting. To understand its humble manufacturing process and celebrate its graphic language.
