Who we are...

Welcome to the CWM Pacific region website. We have long had a vision for a website that would assist the region in its endeavours.

The primary aims of this site are to: profile member churches and their projects; share information and resources; signal future events; and to report on past events.

The Council of World Mission (CWM) is an incorporated body and registered as a charity in the UK. It (CWM) comprises 31 member churches and is divided into regions. One of the regions is the Pacific region, comprising nine churches.

The Pacific region meets in consultation at least once every two years at which every member church is represented by up to four of its members, one of which is the general secretary or his/her nominee. Each respective church organisation is expected to make best endeavours to ensure that across section of the church population is represented at this meeting (eg youth, women and non-clergy).

The Pacific Regional Consultation (PRC) appointed an Interim Management Group (IMG) and a convener for the IMG. The IMG consists of a representative from Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia and Aotearoa in addition to its convener. The IMG has the task of progressing the work of the PRC between consultations as empowered by the PRC. The IMG presents a budget for adoption at each Regional Consultation.

The IMG convener convenes the regional consultation and manages the appointed staff in the Pacific region.

CWM has established a Regional Empowerment Fund for each region. The Pacific region has been allocated money from the fund. The Regional Consultation determineshow the fund is to be applied and the time framework for projects. The IMG manages the fund on behalf of the Pacific Region, which includes the power to disperse the money as directed by the Regional Consultation.
