ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: InfoComm 2007 presented Turbosound with the perfect opportunity to give the US market its first chance to listen to its new baby, NuQ, shown for the first time in North America at NSCA earlier this year.
Taking full advantage of its demo room, Turbosound displayed the NuQ range, including NuQ-8, 10, 12 and 15 in both digitally self-powered units and discrete versions. Also being demonstrated was a three wide Aspect® TA-880 system with four TA-880L per side, a stereo TA-500DP Aspect Wide system, a selection from the TCS contractor range, including TCS-081C, 101C, 121C, 151C, 118C and 215C speakers as well as the TCS-C50T ceiling speaker and Impact 50 for fixed installations.
A DiGiCo D1 Live digital mixing console drove all products, with projection via a Christie Digital Roadster HD18K.
One of the main events on the Turbosound InfoComm calendar was a two hour, closed door seminar for premier US contractor Ford Audio-Visual Systems. "We originally spoke to Ford at NSCA three years ago," explains Turbosound’s R&D Director, Dominic Harter. "I had outlined the new lease of life that was coming to Turbosound and, three years down the line, the Ford team reconvened at InfoComm to see exactly how we've done."
Harter and Brad Stephens, Turbosound National Sales Manager for distributor Sennheiser USA, took a total of 64 Ford attendees through Turbosound's applicable core ranges. "We ran through the lower end of the contracting series, Impact and TCS Compact explaining our core beliefs for this market," says Harter. "We looked at concepts such as sharing consistent HF drive performance between models and highlighted the many options available, including weather resistance and the ability to produce cabinets in absolutely any color required. We then moved on to the flexible NuQ series, showing our software control and multiple options, finally arriving at the Polyhorn™ and where and why it was born."
Turbosound reported significant interest during the show, not only from Ford, but from a considerable number of attendees, with a major deal secured on the show floor for a large project in the mid-west.
"We had a very high-level of consultant attendance throughout the show," adds Stephens. "After visiting the demo room once, many of them returned with other members of their firm or for a second listen to the systems. This, coupled with the high volume of sales we achieved, goes to prove the current level of interest in Turbosound products in the US market."
