MIAMI, FLORIDA:In addition to the very best DJs in the country, the Shelborne Hotel Pool Party at the 2007 Winter Music Conference in Miami Beach, Florida features an incredibly powerful complement of Turbosound loudspeakers, amplifiers, and processors.
Nearly 12,000 visitors will pack into and around the hotel's prodigious pool over the course of four days, March 21 through 24, to hear the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Jonathan Peters, Boris and a long list of other top-flight DJs. Club owners, managers, promoters, agents, and ardent fans have flocked to the Winter Music Conference since its inception 22 years ago, and Shelborne Hotel hosts its most talked about party.
The Shelborne Hotel pool party is organised by Area Event and the company's owner, John DiMatteo. He is also the director and head of operations for the Friday party at Duvet called "MOTION." Turbosound Aspect® series loudspeakers were recently installed on Duvet's posh dance floor to rave reviews, and DiMatteo was so taken with their sound that he requested their use at the pool party. Joe Lodi, systems designer of Advanced Audio Technology, and Angelo Poulos, partner and director of installations, had specified, designed, and installed the sound reinforcement overhaul at Duvet and were asked by DiMatteo to bring the same fire power to bear for the outdoor pool party.
Lodi will use eight each of the long-throw Aspect Series TSW-218 dual 18-inch subwoofers, TA-880L dual 15-inch low-end cabinets, and TA 880H high-end cabinets. The TA-880H is comprised of dual high frequency drivers on a Polyhorn device, a 10-inch high-mid frequency driver on a Polyhorn device, and dual 10-inch. low-mid frequency drivers. Lodi will array four of each unit on either side of the stage and power them with an intimidating rack of Turbosound T45 and T25 amplifiers driven by Turbosound LMS-D26 digital controllers.
When asked if he had any comment on the Turbosound rig at the WMC pool party, Lodi stated, "This system is incredibly powerful for the size of the venue and it's going to sound absolutely awesome." He paused for a moment, then continued with a deliberate double-negative, "To be honest, I cannot see them not coming in and shutting this thing down. It's going to be nuts! I don't know how that rates as a good thing or a bad thing, but it's true. Turbosound manufactures some very serious equipment."
