The reasons for taking any photograph are many and
various and sometimes something about a photograph
can make it one of the photographer's favourites.
Many times it is the memories associated, but occasionally
it can be because something has happened with the
photograph since then
During several years of lichen surveys in Ireland there have
been copious opportunities to photograph the cemeteries that
lie seemingly anomalously in the grounds of the many ruined
churches. This single magpie sat on a Celtic memorial in the
