Miracles is a UK charity launched in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) during the 92-95 war when our founder, Theo Ellert, was there taking humanitarian aid to those civilians caught up in the fighting. Such was the devastation and need after the war she decided to stay and set up a charity dedicated to helping those most affected by this conflict.

Since then Miracles has gone on to support thousands of people who find themselves in desperate need and have no one and nowhere else to turn. Miracles has two overriding objectives:

To supporting children, their carers and vulnerable adults, living in poverty and facing a life crisis such as serious illness.

To support children experiencing exclusion at school, at home and within their peer group due to their financial situation.

These objectives extend across all their work both in Bosnia and in the UK. Their support is offered without prejudice irrespective of a persons sex, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or ethnicity.

Miracles works extensively with referral partners such as CAB’s, children's hospitals, social workers, schools and young carers associations as well as like minded charities, NGO’s and government bodies in Bosnia.

At the core of Miracles UK work is Rapid Relief Funding – this is support that can be turned around in 24 hours without any form filling, red tape or bureaucracy – just rapid action to solve a short term crisis in someones life.

Miracles is divided into two main bodies - Miracles UK which is made up of its own board of trustees and Deed of Governance and Divita Miracles which is the Bosnian representative of their work which also has its own Board of Trustees and Deed of Governance.

In addition to these two bodies there is also the Fondation Miracles Suisse based in Geneva whose role is solely fundraising for the Miracles Centre in Bosnia (this is where Divita Miracles makes and fits limbs for land mine victims).
