During the war years in Bosnia Miracles took care of the many refugees, street children and orphans of war, offering them friendship, food and an Open House where they were always welcome. When they reached school age we provided them with shoes, school books, their bus fares and something to eat. Then we helped them to gain their academic qualifications and where possible we arranged apprenticeships for them so they could learn a trade and find employment for their future.

For the refugee camps we gave food, clothing, sports equipment and the basic essentials of life then we helped them rebuild their homes and replace the tools of their trades—tractors, animals, grain ….

The Orphanage in Zenica was a particular focus for whom we arranged Summer Camps where they can have some fun as well as learning basic computer skills and other educational activities.

When the appeal for the Miracles Prosthetics Centre was launched we added the extra dimension of building adjacent homes for some of our most needy long-term refugees where they could help staff the Centre and live a secure and fulfilled life.
