MIRACLES IN THE UK…

Since 1994 Miracles has been providing a vital service to those in supreme need here in the UK. Today, we are top of the calling list for Citizens' Advice Bureaux, Social Workers and major children’s hospitals – including Great Ormond Street and the Royal Marsden – for 'rapid response' funding on behalf of their most needy cases.

The following are a few examples of the type of cases coming to us for help…

An abandoned mother with two sick children (one with terminal leukaemia) threatened with eviction from their home because of rent arrears. £500 will stall the landlords taking action while a CAB debt Counsellor works to alleviate the situation.

An African family not yet entitled to Benefits: jobless and homeless, needing temporary accommodation for a short period while Social Services deal with their problems.

An elderly Grandmother caring for three young children (one receiving cancer treatment) referred to Miracles by their hospital for a desperately needed short respite break. Cost: £1,000.

Miracles Crisis Grants are awarded for:

  • Single Parents with one or more sick/disabled dependants.
  • Parents/Carers with two or more sick/disabled dependants
  • Hospital transport and accommodation (where no other funding is available)
  • Additional medical needs, equipment, special diets, special clothing.
  • Respite breaks and "treats after treatment".
  • Priority is given to child carers under the poverty line.

Interim one-off grants may also be considered for Crisis Funding pending benefits being sought or one-off payments to prevent disconnection of household services.

Please help Miracles to help those in supreme need.

The latest ‘miracle’ being offered by the Miracles Charity for families with children undergoing treatment for Leukaemia and other life-threatening disorders is a Holiday Caravan in the Bunn Leisure Holiday Caravan Centre in Selsey, West Sussex.

‘Milagros’ - (named after its Spanish benefactors) - sleeps up to eight and is fully furnished, centrally heated and double glazed. The visiting families will all receive passes to the Waterfront Leisure Complex with its many bars, restaurants, shops, clubs and first class entertainment, plus The Oasis swimming and leisure pools. They will also be treated to a free session at the West Sands Fun Fair and Saltings Diner. The Caravan is situated very close to the Waterfront Complex and just a few yards from the extensive beach and beautiful Nature Reserve.

Already we have bookings for the 2017 school holidays and look forward to being able to offer breaks to families who can take them in term time. Short stays will also be available for Child Carers in need of a break and to other families in poverty and supreme need.

Bookings should be made through Hospital Social Workers or direct to Miracles. Miracles Charity No. 1041449 * miraclesthecharity@gmail.com * www.miraclesthecharity.org
