System Reboot

• Rebooting rarely fixes problems in Linux

  • If you feel a reboot is necessary try bringing the system down to runlevel 1 and then back up to runlevel 3 or 5. This is much faster than a reboot.

• Rebooting the system

  • shutdown -r now
  • reboot
  • init 6
