DNS Utilities

• Useful utilities in bind-utils RPM package include:

  • host: gather host/domain information
    • host ns1.redhat.com
    • host -a redhat.com
  • dig: send queries to name server directly
    • dig @ns1.redhat.com mx redhat.com
  • nslookup
