Buckinghamshire Small Grants Scheme

Finmere

Two years after the Armistice the Parish of Finmere erected a war memorial in the churchyard. It is made of Hornton Stone and paid for by parishioners and other sconnected with the parish. A further panel was added in 1954 tor ecrod the dead of World War II.

The memorial was repaired, cleaned and the text re-cut and re-enamelle with the help of a grant of £250.00.

Penn Street

The paving surrounding the Penn Street war memorial recieved a grant of £150.00 towards the cost of re-laying and pointing.

RAF Booker

A new war memorial at RAF Baooker near Marlow received a grant of £200.00.

Wheeler End

The war memorial at Wheeler End is one of only two such wooden memorials in existence and is thus an importan monument to protect. It was in a bad condition with deteriorating lettering and the surrounding fence in disrepair.

War Memorials Trust contributed £200.00 to the project to renew the fence, paint the post and renovate the lettering.
