Senior Development Chef Required
Quite simply a fantastic opportunity to join us in a senior role and to have the opportunity to seriously influence the company direction by creating and presenting imaginative ‘now’ and ‘future now’ products in our market sector.
We are known for our quality and innovation, built the business very successfully on it. We are also known for fast track NPD turnaround, good ideas with market opportunities are always taken seriously and moved upon quickly.
The presenting ‘bit’ involves just this, giving a well thought out and applicable presentation to both existing and potential clients. This invariably involves presenting to client Menu Development Chefs together with Purchasing Managers on their own ‘turf’. A degree of travelling is thus involved.
Also an important part of the job is to identify potential clients, make contact with their Menu Development people and to present an array of products that either are currently on their menus or thought would be ‘right up their street’.
Sounds like a bit of a sales role – which of course it is in part, but there are no sales targets to meet here as good chefs presenting to good chefs with quality products at affordable prices will win through – people buy from people they like – forging quality relationships is important and anyone looking to apply should be a natural ‘presenter’ and enjoy a pint in the pub or a good dinner with clients as well as doing ‘the formal bits.
We have named the role ‘senior’ and that is because it is, very senior, but there are no Juniors here in this role and the key chef working relationship will be with Clive Barker who to date has done all the NPD himself, also key will be working with John Davis on the potential client bits.
Have a look at our web site and you will get a very good idea what we are about and where we play. We treat our staff as we do quality ingredients: with care and consideration but as with all good ingredients: they have to work!
The Quals Bit:
Again, this is simple; you have to be a real Chef with formal craft training and quality experience. You do not have to be a current development chef; you might be an hotel or restaurant chef.
The Rewards Bit:
If the annual salary is below 35k then we would consider it a bargain for what we are looking for – far more likely to be around the 38k – 42k mark, plus a few toys in the form of phone, notebook with global mobile internet, use of vehicle when on company business, Private Healthcare, 5 weeks holiday p.a.
The job is based out of our offices/factory in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. Doesn’t mean you have to live here though, if you want to commute from home and are around an hour away then we will pay the fuel bill. If a you do need a company car then we can discuss it – but they are pretty heavy on the personal tax code especially if you do under 18k miles p.a.!
