Education

Education is a vital part of War Memorials Trust work. Ensuring people of all ages value their war memorial heritage contributes to the understanding of these monuments role in both a historical and social context. It will also ensure we all work to preserve them in the future and commemorate those recorded upon them.

One of the many ways war memorials can be used in Education is by bringing the war memorial to life. Revealing the stories behind the names of those recorded on the war memorial brings these names to life and gives a greater understanding of the sacrifices made by so many. This understanding encourages an awareness of the importance of a war memorial both within the local community and as a piece of our heritage and history.

War Memorials Trust can also provide speakers for events as part of its educational work. The charity has also organised seminars, events, talks and walks to build people's awareness of the importance of our war memorial heritage.
