OVERVIEW: August sees Norway’s electro pop quintet Casiokids return
to the UK with their brilliant third single on Moshi Moshi records
(responsible for discovering Hot Chip, thecocknbullkid, Friendly Fires,
Late of the Pier amongst many more). Recently tagged by excitable
UK media as ‘the hottest tip since Hot Chip’ (NME), ‘most impressive’
(Guardian Guide) and ‘a Scandinavian sensation’ (The Independent)
Casiokids have also pricked up the ears of UK stalwarts The Doves
who upon hearing the last single, keenly requested the band support
them on tour (they couldn’t). Casiokids’ music spans the widths and
breadths of bass heavy pop, synthy dub and darker percussive club
moments, all the time with a smattering of their distinctive harmonic
vocals. Similar to Sigor Ros before them, the band don’t sing in English
– something which, it transpires, has seemingly no effect on how many
new fans they scoop up across the world - evidently the addictive
melodies and danceable pop hooks talk to huge audiences regardless.
With a busy summer lined up including sets at Glastonbury, Bestival
and Oxegen plus clearing the board at Scandanavian festivals (Hove,
Arvika, Siesta) the band’s swift success to date appears indicative
of the universal language that music speaks regardless of understandable
lyrics. Once again showcasing Casiokids two distinctive sides, Finn
Bikkjen will undoubtedly be a sunset festival favourite – marking
day into night, dreamy hankering vocals sit neatly on top of their
trademark electro afropop making it a Balearic percussive stomper.
Gomur mamma will keep the more underground clubheads happy - bouncy
percussive basement music, eerie melody and distorted bass.

OVERVIEW: Fever Ray, aka Karin Dreijer Andersson, one half of The
Knife, has today announced her first UK tour as well as the release
of new single “Triangle Walks” out on July 20th through Rabid Records/Cooperative
Music in the UK. Available on 12” and download, “Triangle Walks “
is the third single to be released from the critically acclaimed self-titled
album and features remixes from the likes of Tiga, Spektre, James
Rutledge, Tora Vinter, Ben Hoo and Allez-Allez. Mikel Cee Karlsson,
who has collaborated with Andreas Nilsson on videos for Jose Gonzales
and Bonde do Role, will direct the music video for the single. Following
her spectacular set at the Ether Festival, Fever Ray will be doing
a five date stint, which will see Karin and her four piece band play
festival dates as well as solo shows in Brighton, Dublin, Bristol,

B side (500 only) SOULSAVERS return in August 2009 with “Broken”,
their sublime new album featuring Mark Lanegan, Jason Pierce, Richard
Hawley, Mike Patton and more…. In 2007, when Soulsavers released their
second opus “It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s How You Land”, the collective’s
leader Rich Machin explained what lay behind it. “I didn't want to
be in an electronic band. Or a rock'n'roll band. I wanted the freedom
to explore.” Today, he reaffirms that position. “I love all kinds
of music, which allows me to open all these doors. There’s nothing
better than bringing in great people who inspire, to keep you on top
of your game, and to keep things fresh and never boring. That's the
nature of what we've set up here." Soulsavers had begun as more of
an electronic affair, with Machin partnering studio engineer Ian Glover
for the 2003 debut Tough Guys Don’t Dance. Josh Haden of slow-core
moodists Spain (the band, not the country), added three vocals, but
the following It’s Not How Far You Fall... set a new benchmark, threading
soul, gospel, rock, jazz, country into the mix and a matching spread
of singers. Principally, though, out front was the indefatigable Mark
Lanegan, former Screaming Tree whose profound, growling croon was
the perfect match for Soulsavers’ broader, richer vein of sepulchral
cinerama. Besides Lanegan’s eight vocals, there were telling contributions
from The London Community Gospel Choir, Will Oldham and Doves' Jimi
Goodwin; voices to throw light and shade on Machin’s expansive music
and to contrast Lanegan’s tobacco-tarred laments. Now you must be
prepared to follow Soulsavers even further, for Broken is even better,
a future classic that delivers 14 tracks of wide-ranging majesty.
The main difference this time, says Rich, is the influence of Soulsavers’
stage incarnation. “Touring has definitely brought the guitars to
the front of Broken and it’s got a more soulful twist too. And though
it’s clearly has some very dark overtones, I don’t think it’s quite
as dark as the last.”

OVERVIEW: Billy Talent return this summer with their third studio
album - Billy Talent III. The album has been produced by Brendan O'Brien
(AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Mastodon) and is set for release
on July 6th, preceded by single 'Rusted From The Rain' on June 29.
Billy Talent III sees the band return to their grunge roots and influences,

In Enter Shikari's short time on this planet since forming in St Albans,

Kap Bambino's third album, 'Blacklist', marks the boldest and bravest
moves the duo have made to date. Perhaps the biggest curve ball they
could have thrown would be to go pop, which is just what they've done,
well, kind of. It is, as Caroline points out, "Kap Bambino after all".
'Blacklist' is twelve tracks of deranged, maddening melodies and propulsive
head-nod rhythms, taking the group's trademark concoctions and placing
it amidst a setting that wouldn't look out of place in a stadium or
headlining a festival. Caroline's vocals are brought centre stage,
never have they sounded so clear, crisp and defiant. Whilst Orion's
production alchemy sounds like the work of a regal orchestra of androids,
soundtracking an Armageddon-inducing war. Unlike most assaults of
lawless rock'n'roll ideals, Kap Bambino's sound is not powered by
guitars, or rather any live instruments whatsoever. The empowering
eruption of frenzied discordance, space invader sucker-punch beats
and caterwauling incantations conjured by the Bordeaux duo, Caroline
Martial and Orion Bouvier, is the result of harnessing the unruly
spirit of bands like Suicide and Nirvana, then feeding it through
a tangled web of samplers, synthesisers and software modules. The
result is a more immediate, more kinetic and more inspiring show than

2008 during Katie's 'Pictures' world tour. In a live review of the
concert The Times wrote "her voice was rarely short of astounding"

opened the concert, with just her electric guitar for accompaniment,
singing 'Piece By Piece' - the title track of her second album - and
'Lilac Wine' before taking a seat at the grand piano to play the Georgian
folk song 'Yellow Leaves' (or Qviteli Potlebi). The concert was a
celebration of the remarkable success that Katie has enjoyed since

boss and his adoring girlfriend Audrey (Jackie Joseph). From a zingy
script by Charles Griffith this hilarious black comedy overflows with
great ideas and characters: Corman regular Dick Miller plays a hipster
who eats flowers and a very young Jack Nicholson takes a memorable
turn as a masochistic dental patient. Little Shop of Horrors began
building up a cult following via repeated TV exposure in the 1960's.
By the mid 1970s it had attained classic status, spawning a big budget
Broadway musical and follow up feature film (starring Steve Martin)
in the 1980's and a Saturday morning

Clark developed an idiosyncratic writing process for ‘Actor’, immersing

has given birth to a number of great popular music acts recently ;
The Knife, Peter Bjorn & John, The Concretes, Annie (although she
may be Norwegian), and um.... Andreas Kleerup. You probably haven't
heard of the last one, but then that's the reason for this press release.
Kleerup was half of the act responsible for the number 1 hit single,
'With Every Heartbeat'. The other half was of course the feisty asymetrically
fringed Robyn . His melancholic electro-pop framed Robyn's ballad
about break-up perfectly and secured it as one of the most prolific
pop moments of 2007. As they wrote the song together they agreed call
it 'Robyn with Kleerup' on her album and 'Kleerup with Robyn' on his
album. He is already a massive star in is native home having won no
less than three awards (Best Newcomer, Best Composer and Best Producer)
at Sweden's Grammis music awards recently (the equivalent of our Brits).
Ok, so he's huge back home, is mates with Robyn and has had a number
one single in the UK. So what you may ask. Well this bearded lothario
with grungy locks is about to embark on another assault of our shores
with his own self-titled album. 'Kleerup' features collaborations
with Lykke Li, Marit Bergman, Titiyo (Neneh Cherry's younger sister)

Kinkane are a British rock band charged with
putting the vigour and verve back where it belongs, with sharp suits
and even sharper hooks. Their songs exist in epic widescreen, strutting
the space between, say, The Killers and The Kinks, but with a snarl
all of their own. Written by Kinkane and produced by Butch Walker,
their introductory single 'Still Feel The Same', is a break-up song
of sorts that ends up being delivered as a clarion call of hope. "Sometimes
the most upbeat songs musically can be the most downbeat lyrically,”
says James, "it just ends up like that". Kinkane are Adam Shaw (vocals),

and will be released by Universal on July 21st. Following the re-mastered
release of The Joshua Tree last year, Edge has overseen a similar
re-mastering of Boy (1980), October (1981) and War (1983), all of
which have been re-mastered from the original audio tapes. Each album
will be released as a standard single disc, a deluxe double version
including a disc of b-sides, live tracks and rarities, and an LP version
pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl The packaging on all three titles has
been restored and expanded, with new liner notes for each record,
previously unseen photos and full lyrics.
