Buildings

There are some highly inspirational buildings around the world
and some 'around the corner'. Some have significant historic
events attached to them, others have just been there for a
bit minding their own business

Falklands Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral and whalebone arch in Stanley,
Falkland Islands. The whale bones came from blue whales
and were erected in 1933. While this photograph makes
everything look warm and idyllic, the presence of the
trees is enormously misleading, because there are hardly
any trees in the Falkland Islands due to the constant
windiness of the climate! The architect for the building
was Sir Arthur Blomfield
