Public art has been commissioned and put in place for
thousands of years, with a view to educate, record,
commemorate or to promote an idea. In the past
few years it has also been used to engage or surprise
the viewer and for this reason it has a value rather
different to that of sculpture, although there is
significant overlap between the two
Memorial to the Atlantic Conveyor, a requisitioned merchant
container ship lost in the Falklands conflict of 1982, the memorial
is situated at Cape Pembroke just outside Stanley in the Falklands
and is the salvaged propeller
