Favourites

The reasons for taking any photograph are many and
various and sometimes something about a photograph
can make it one of the photographer's favourites.
Many times it is the memories associated, but occasionally
it can be because something has happened with the
photograph since then

Killarney Lakes

Killarney Lakes in Ireland have a long history of glaciation, with
many of the features classic examples of glacial geomorphology.
This photograph shows the striations left by a previous glacier
rolling across the rock, embedded pebbles and morainic till
scratching lines as the ice moved forwards and downwards.
Seeing the scratches evokes some of the incredible power within
the glacier's advance
